  • Rhodes Insurance Agency is a well-respected family-owned and operated independent agency located in Abilene, Texas. Rhodes Insurance Agency began as Bill Rhodes Insurance Agency in 1986. It was founded by William "Bill" Rhodes, a Texas family man with a passion for making sure the people of Texas had proper insurance coverage. After Bill's passing in March 2009, his oldest son Gary Rhodes took over what is now Rhodes Insurance Agency. To this day Gary follows in his mentor/father’s footsteps and Rhodes Insurance serves all of Central West Texas and beyond with enthusiasm and a client-first mentality.

Gary Rhodes is the oldest son of William (Bill) Rhodes - the founder of the insurance agency formerly known as Bill Rhodes Insurance Agency. Gary went to work for his father in April 1990 and became a partner in 1998. Gary feels blessed to have been able to spend 18 1/2 years working next to his father every day and learning all he could from his mentor prior to Bill's death in March 2009. The name of the agency was changed in 2003 to simply Rhodes Insurance Agency. Gary is the agency principal and manages the agency as well as oversees the Commercial lines part of the business. He has been married since 1977 to his wonderful wife, Suzanne. They have three grown children and 6 grand-children. Gary is also ordained as a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and is assigned to Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene. Thanks to the efficiency of his staff, he is able to spend several hours a week doing prison ministry, which is something he has done since 2003 and enjoys very much.

Chenoa made a nice addition to the agency after coming on board in July 2012. She answers the phone and assists in servicing both our personal lines and commercial lines client's needs. She has shown an affinity for learning the commercial business quickly and is a fast learner. Chenoa has great customer service skills and loves to interact with people. She and her husband have been blessed with 1 son and 1 daughter. Chenoa also loves country music and boot scooting!

Nickie Dawkins joined Rhodes Insurance Agency, October 5, 2015. She has over 20 years of customer service experience. Nickie answers the phone and assists our customers to meet all their needs. She replaced Dot as the first person that you see when you come in. Nickie and her husband Michael have been married 52 years and have 2 sons and 1 grandson. She enjoys cooking, baking, and visiting! Nickie is also an artist and loves to paint.

Gary Rhodes II is the third generation at the agency, although he came here after time spent working as a journalist and in the construction industry. Like his grandfather, Bill, one of his favorite parts of this agency is the people that we interact with daily. Gary works on both personal and commercial lines. He and his wife, Maria, have been married for 19 years and have four children.
Dot Rhodes Insurance Agency of Abilene Texas

Dorothy Caffey (11.08.1934 to 10.12.2019)

Dorothy Caffey was the original employee of the agency and she had been with the agency since its inception in 1986. Dot (as she went by) started with the agency part-time and was the long-time office manager until her passing in 2019. Dot never met a stranger and was the first person you would see when you came into our Abilene office. She also attended Holy Family Catholic Church with Gary and had known him since he was 13 years old. Dot's passing left a big whole in our collective hearts and we miss her every time we come to work. We have a gorgeous picture of her that hangs in our front lobby as an abundance of our clients remember her.
